Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly lantern

So when I had no internet, I replayed the fatal frame games 1-3. I really loved the save point in Crimson Butterfly, and I remembered I had an old lantern lying around, unused and slightly broken (it had a broken light bulb). So I had this idea of transforming it into a Fatal Frame save point.

I wasn't able to take pictures of before I even started (forgot), and only remembered to take pics of my progress when I started washing the paper.

The paper was plain, but a bit yellowish because it's old, and I added brown washes at the corners to add more age in it. Also painted the crimson butterflies on each side.

The hardest part I think is cutting the stencil. I had cardboard (no idea how thick but it's thick cardboard) and then painted it black. I actually have a black foam board, but it's way too thick for my liking so I used the cardboard and painted it with black acrylic. I actually just used a masking tape to stick the stencil on the paper, but I plan on using glue later.

Finally, added woodstain on the wood to make it darker.

The lantern has a dim glow. (You can save now.)

  2. What do you mean by borrow? Do you mean the picture or the actual lantern?
